BOTOX® Cosmetic – One of the most popular wrinkle treatments in the country, BOTOX® Cosmetic is excellent for the treatment of moderate to severe lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows. Patients are typically in and out of the dentist chair after just 10 minutes. The procedure is simple: Dr. Arel injects the FDA-approved solution directly into problem areas. For optimal patient comfort, she can also apply a topical anesthetic prior to beginning. BOTOX® Cosmetic inhibits muscle movement, thus smoothing out lines. Results are instantly noticeable and continue to improve over time. Patients can achieve beautiful, youthful-looking facial skin at the dentist!
Restylane® – Another option for patients is Restylane® injections, which serve to improve lines and wrinkles that form around the mouth. Restylane® may also be used to add volume to the lips, for a full, luscious look. This treatment is administered in the same ways as BOTOX® Cosmetic, however functions a little differently. Rather than inhibiting muscle movement, the natural hyaluronic acid, adds volume below the surface of the skin, thus smoothing out wrinkles formed on the surface. Risks or Side Effects of Wrinkle Treatments
As with all cosmetic treatments, some risk is a factor with BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport©and Restylane®, although extremely rare when performed by a qualified dentist . Patients may experience some mild bruising or swelling immediately following the treatment. However, symptoms are temporary and any discomfort can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication. We will provide aftercare instructions to follow in order to best avoid any complications.
